Balance Solar saved the Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport (SPI) over $1,280,000 on the cost of its solar installation with a Prepaid PPA.
SPI kept all solar-related incentives from the 2.88 MW project, and used a low-interest loan to pay the upfront cost.
Spectacularly, this project features a "PPA in a PPA". In other words, SPI is using a PPA to sell the system's electricity to its tenants, earning it a higher rate of return and a long-term source of revenue.
The airport, located in Springfield, Illinois, serves more than 150,000 people annually.
