Normal Township's Activity and Recreation Center (ARC) received approval for SREC funding through the Illinois Solar for All program.
The 296 kW roof-mounted solar array is comprised of 784 Tier-1 solar panels and is expected to generate over 9,164 MWh over the next 25 years. That's equivalent to planting 107,590 trees, or removing 14,250,000 lbs of CO2 from our atmosphere!
This system will have an outstanding impact on the environment and local community, but its financial benefits run even deeper.
ARC is estimated to save over 92% on electricity costs over 25 years (including the cost of the system). Normal Township's Activity and Recreation Center is an excellent example of the Illinois Solar for All Program
ARC's mission is "to provide a modern, friendly atmosphere for socialization and fitness." We believe this solar panel system moves it one step closer towards accomplishing that goal. It has been a pleasure working with the ARC team to modernize their facility and improve the fitness of their local community and environment.
